Donating Books and Media

FRIENDS DONATIONS

PLEASE NOTE: We will NOT be accepting donations from JUNE 1st through JUNE 6th, the week of our June 6th Bag of Books Sale.

We are finally back to taking donations during specific OPEN DONATION HOURS, with a limit of 4 boxes per person per donation. Our donation schedule is:

• • Mondays 10am – noon
  • Wednesdays 11am – 1pm
  • Saturdays 10am – noon

Please find a parking space in the lot behind the library (on Lovell and Rose St) and a volunteer will be inside the garage to receive your gently used books, CDs, DVDs, jigsaw puzzles, and games.

Do not leave donations at other times out side our donation times, because any donations left at the door and not received by Friends volunteers will be assumed abandoned and discarded by KPL.

GUIDELINES

We appreciate books in very good to excellent condition and are particularly looking for adult fiction, children’s picture books, and literature classics!

We are very grateful for your donations. It is truly a joy to see the many lovely books that you give us move to their next home. The Friends thanks you for helping us to support the Kalamazoo Public Library programs through their sales.

We will gladly accept:

• • Materials that are clean and in good condition
  • Adult and children’s materials
  • Books (fiction—current and classic, nonfiction—relevant and current)
  • Audiobooks on CD
  • CDs & DVDs
  • Puzzles and games with all pieces included

Sorry, we do not accept:

• • Anything damp, damaged, dirty, moldy, or in poor physical condition
  • Textbooks
  • Encyclopedia sets older than 5 years
  • Outdated nonfiction (e.g. old medical/health or travel guides)
  • Readers Digest Condensed Books
  • Magazines
  • Records (LPs, 78s, etc.), VHS tapes and cassette tapes
