Intro to Neurodiversity
Tue, October 22, 2024 @ 10:00 am–12:15 pm
Registration Required

Neurodiversity refers to variations in the human brain and mind, encompassing the full spectrum of human neurological differences. The neurodiversity movement is a human rights and social justice movement that advocates for the acceptance and inclusion of individuals with neurological differences, challenging societal norms that prescribe how human brains “should” work.
In this workshop, we will cover several key areas:
- Sensory, Movement, and Communication Differences: We will explore how neurodiversity contributes to unique sensory processing, movement patterns, and communication styles, and how these differences enrich our communities.
- The Impact of Ableism: We will examine how ableism (the oppression of people with disabilities) affects people with brain-based disabilities, often leading to significant social and systemic barriers.
- Supporting the Neurodiversity Movement: We will discuss strategies to support the neurodiversity movement, foster environments that affirm and embrace neurodiversity, and advocate for inclusion and equity.
This event will take place on Zoom, it and includes 15 minutes availability to connect with facilitators after the training session. ONEplace will send you a link prior to the event.
Facilitated by Disability Network of Southwest Michigan.
