O Say Can You Hear?: A Cultural Biography of the Star-Spangled Banner

As part of the America250 initiative, the Lucinda Hinsdale Stone Chapter NSDAR presents Dr. Mark Clague, author of O Say Can You Hear?: A Cultural Biography of the Star-Spangled Banner. Clague will discuss the origin story of the national anthem via Microsoft Teams. From victory song to hymn of sacrifice and vehicle for protest, the story of Francis Scott Key’s song is the story of America itself.
