Reading Race Book Group

The Reading Race book group, co-sponsored by the Society for History and Racial Equity (SHARE) and KPL’s Antiracism Transformation Team (ARTT), focuses on race and racism in American society. We discuss books supporting Black, Indigenous, and People of Color authors to better understand how race impacts our lives, effects our systems and institutions, and how we can create change in our community. We read both fiction and nonfiction, and reading the book is not required to join the conversation. All are welcome!

About Our Partner

SHARE has a dual mission of educating the community on the importance of our region’s African American heritage and fostering connections and conversations on race and providing awareness of racism and the broad societal benefits of its elimination.

KPL’s Antiracism Team is dedicated to dismantling institutional racism within our library system and the national library environment. SHARE and KPL’s ARTT partnership is a natural collaboration between organizations interested in creating an inclusive, brave space for community conversations about racism in our society.

Reading Race meets the second Tuesday of every other month, beginning in January. The discussion begins at 6:30pm. We welcome suggestions for our discussions; please let us know what you’d like to read with us!
