Hello Kalamazoo! We have missed you and are excited to welcome you back to your library.
Beginning June 15 we welcome you to visit your preferred KPL Location to return any materials you have been holding onto during the shutdown period. We thank you for your patience!
Returns will be accepted at Central M–F, 12–6 pm, and at the Branches M–Th, 12–6 pm. KPL staff will be on-site to guide you through the return process. Please note all returned materials will be quarantined for 72 hours and then cleaned before being processed, so it will take a few days before you see the returns reflected on your account. All due dates will be extended accordingly.
On June 22 all KPL locations will reopen and offer limited service at reduced hours. We will also be offering curbside pickup. We are currently finalizing the details and more information will be posted soon on our website and social media.

What to expect at your next visit
Welcome to Kalamazoo Public Library, we are so excited to see you in person again! Please note that we are continuing all recommended practices to keep our patrons and staff safe. This includes properly wearing a mask (covering mouth AND nose) at all times during your visit, maintaining 6 feet of distance between yourself and others, and following all posted instructional signage during your visit. Hand sanitizer and wipes are available for public use. We hope these changes will make your visit more comfortable. Welcome back!
SERVICES, DATES, AND PROCEDURES

All KPL locations will be open with reduced hours and limited access to services.
Temporary Hours
Your safety is our top priority. To provide the best visiting experience for everyone, we ask patrons to abide by the following requirements:

- All patrons are required to properly wear (covering nose and mouth) a face-covering at all times during their visit*. If you do not have one, a mask will be provided by KPL staff upon entry
- If you are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms, please do not enter
- Patrons must maintain 6 feet of distance from one another
- Each location will only allow 25% of building capacity at one time
- Patrons will have 1-hour maximum to browse, use the computer and check out materials
- Quarantine and cleaning returned materials will likely impact hold times and will result in items being checked out on your account a minimum of 4 days after they are returned.
- Remember that KPL is “fine-free”, so you will not face any overdue fees if the quarantine time results in your returned items being overdue.
- All printing must be picked up at the service desk
- Toys, puzzles, and musical instruments will not be available in the children’s area
- Multi-use print publications including newspapers and magazines will not be available at this time
- Hand sanitizer and wipes are available and the buildings are routinely cleaned by KPL staff
*Children under the age of 2 are not required to wear a mask.
