Reading Together Returns in 2024

Help us select a title!

Kalamazoo Public Library plans to resume its community reading program, Reading Together, in 2024, beginning with the official public suggestion period from May 17–31. More information and the suggestion form can be found at readingtogether.us.

For 20 years, KPL has hosted this initiative that aims to build community relationships across differences through the common experience of reading the same book. Each year a single book—or occasionally more than one—has been selected by a KPL-organized committee. Several local events are scheduled to provide opportunities for discussion and exploration with others who have also read the book. And KPL has brought the author of many Reading Together titles to Kalamazoo for a public appearance that usually draws hundreds of curious residents.

All suggestions will be reviewed by a selection committee, which will in turn build a short list (3–5 titles) that will be presented to the public in August for a vote to determine the 2024 Reading Together title.
