Kick Off Your Summer Fun with KPL on Saturday, June 4th!
This summer is going to be HOT at KPL! Beginning June 1st, you can dive into Oceans of Possibilities with our 2022 Summer Reading Challenge! We invite Kalamazoo youth ages birth to grade 12 to read 20 minutes a day and win fabulous prizes including free books! Sign up at any KPL location beginning Wednesday, June 1! Learn more at kpl.gov/src.
If you are planning on participating in all the fun festivities of JumpstART (formerly June Jubilee) in downtown Kalamazoo on June 4, be sure to stop by KPL’s Central Library. First, come see the KPL Mobile Library and costumed KPL staff at the annual Do Dah Parade. KPL will join literary forces with Kalamazoo RESA’s Great Start Collaborative’s Talking is Teaching campaign to Tune in, Take Turns and Talk More as we discover our way through KalamaZOO. Costumed characters, giveaways, and music along the way as our storybooks come to life along the parade route on Lovell Avenue.
You can also sign up for Summer Reading Challenge during open hours or visit us under Central Library’s portico from 10 am–2 pm. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Friends of KPL’s June Bag of Books Sale, 10 am–3:30 pm in Central’s parking lot located on the corner of Rose and Lovell. Books are 25 cents each or $3.00 for a full bag. Cash or check only, please. Choose from a huge selection of adult fiction and nonfiction, mystery, romance, mass-market paperbacks, youth fiction, children’s picture books, youth and children’s nonfiction, and much more! Please bring your own bag.
KPL will also have a table at the annual Kalamazoo Pride festival from 2–5 pm. This is a fun-filled event with lots of live entertainment. We hope to see you there!
This is just the beginning of what we have to offer you this summer. Check out the summer issue of PRISM to see all of the exciting programs we have to offer. We have indoor, outdoor, and virtual programs for all ages to enjoy!
Have a great summer Kalamazoo!
