It's a David Small World–A Journey Through Life and Art
Exhibit October 4–28 at Central Library
Join KPL in celebrating Western Michigan University’s acquisition of the David Small and Sarah Stewart Archive with a special month-long exhibit. More than 60 pieces of original art will be on display in our Van Deusen Room for families to view in October. There will be special activities and storytimes scheduled during the showcase of Small’s work.
The exhibit will be on display October 4–28, Monday through Thursday; 10 am–12 pm and 3–5 pm.
After your tour, we encourage you to visit the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts to view their collection of David Small artwork. Enjoy!

About the Collection
The Small Stewart Archive documents David Small and Sarah Stewart’s artistic, literary, and intellectual pursuits from the 1970s through the present. It includes drafts and original art, unpublished works, notebooks, sketchbooks, correspondence, and journals. Western Michigan University Libraries acquired the collection in 2019.
About the Authors
David Small and Sarah Stewart are award-winning authors and illustrators. Their work includes The Gardener (a Caldecott Honor Book) The Money Tree, The Library, and many more classic children’s books. David and Sarah live in Southwest Michigan.
