WSQ Neighborhood

Edison Neighborhood of Kalamazoo

The Edison Neighborhood is the biggest and arguably the most diverse neighborhood in Kalamazoo. It is a hub for social services with The Disability Network, Health and Human Services, Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Michigan, Family Health Center — Alcott Street Campus, and Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services all in close proximity.

There are also several parks in the Edison Neighborhood, including Mayors’ Riverfront Park where you can see the minor league baseball team the Kalamazoo Growlers or semi-pro soccer team Kalamazoo FC. Kik Pool, the city’s only public pool, is located in Upjohn Park.

In addition to the library, there are some great non-profit organizations serving the neighborhood like The Boys & Girls Club, El Concilio, Urban Alliance, Loaves and Fishes,  and the Fire Arts Collaborative.
