Gryphon Place — School to Prison Pipeline

Gryphon Place School to Prison Pipeline

Join Restorative Justice Trainers Molly Mechtenberg and Ruth Garcia (Gryphon Place) as they discuss the historical, cultural, and systemic policies and practices that have led to the term known as “School-to-Prison Pipeline.” This presentation focuses on the disproportionate and subjective nature of the exclusionary discipline and outsourced discipline through examination of well researched statistical trends. It closes with how Restorative Practices can be used to dismantle the School-to-Prison Pipeline through accountability-based discipline and relationship building within schools that are aimed to strengthen community and build resilience and trust.
