Spaces
Read, Play, Create, and Make Friends
Kalamazoo Public Library creates special places at each of our five locations especially for young learners and families. Join us for storytime, explore the collection, or simply spend some time together.
Story Place at Central Library is a community play space for children age birth through 12. Come in to play with the toys and make new friends.
Early in 1990, KPL received a grant from the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation to transform the Central Library’s Children’s Room. With that gift, the library commissioned several artists to spark our imaginations with original artwork.
In 1896 KPL became one of the first 10 libraries in the nation to establish a children’s room.
