Summary

At the end of World War II, Jimmy Picard, a Native American Blackfoot, is admitted to a military hospital. Suffering from headaches, dizzy spells, hearing loss and bizarre dreams, Jimmy's unusual symptoms classify him as schizophrenic by the confused medical staff. Enter French anthropologist and Native American researcher Georges Devereux, who helps Jimmy navigate the labyrinth of his troubled memories and visions, leading to a compelling and surprising friendship.
