Summary

This documentary tells the emotional journey of Shane and Tom, two young men who grew up in small town America, each struggling with the fact that they are gay. Ultimately, both move to Los Angeles where they fall in love and have a six-year, committed relationship--a union that was cut tragically short by a misstep off the side of a roof. The story of what happens after Tom's accidental death--of how people without the legal protection of marriage can find themselves completely powerless and ostracized--is poignant, enraging and opens a window onto the issue of marriage equality like no speech or lecture ever will.
