The Kalamazoo Corset Workers Strike
The Kalamazoo Corset Company was one of Kalamazoo’s largest employer in the early decades of the 20th century. The overwhelming majority of its 1000-strong workforce were women. In 1911, the women protested their wages and working conditions and the following year went out on strike. Tom Dietz explores the story of this major episode in Kalamazoo’s labor history.
