1940s Silent Film

Strong's Bakery in Kalamazoo, MI (1942-1956)

An old silent home movie shows how Arlene Strong got started in the bakery business in Kalamazoo’s Oakwood Neighborhood during the early 1940s. Beginning with the small kitchen blender and oven, then showing the bread dough being mixed in a washing machine tub, and finally to a fully equipped bakery on the corner of Hazel and Barnard avenues from 1942 to 1956.
