Hoover School was named for U.S. President Herbert Hoover. The building, designed by Ernest A. Batterson, was dedicated in November 1930. It was listed in the county school directories through the 1959-60 school year, at which point the students were absorbed into the Comstock Public School District. Starting in the fall of 1960, the building was occupied for some years by the Kalamazoo School for Retarded Children, later known as the McKercher Rehabilitation Center. Earlier known as Hipp School.
