Stay Cool at KPL

All KPL Locations are a Great Place to Cool Off During the Heatwave

When the city of Kalamazoo is under an excessive heat warning, issued by the National Weather Service, Kalamazoo Public Library welcomes our community members to come to any KPL location during open hours to escape the heat, enjoy our air conditioning and stay hydrated with our water fountains and bottle fillers.

Our friends at Gryphon Place have shared the following information regarding cooling centers, open hydrants as well as some beat the heat safety tips. Thank you to Gryphon Place!

Thursday and Friday, Noon-8 pm

Open Hydrants
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety will open hydrants at these intersections/locations from 1-9pm during days with excessive heat:

Edison Neighborhood: Washington & March; Clarence & Jackson; Hays Park & March; Hays Park & James

Eastside Neighborhood: Charlotte & Sherwood; Sherwood at Roosevelt Apts; Fairbanks & Center

Northside Neighborhood: 1038 Interfaith; Burrell & Lawrence; Krom & Clay; Norway & Princeton; Church & Norway
