Summary

"Ottawa Hills neighborhood. The nearly 300 homes in this one-hundred year-old-neighborhood were built on wide curving steets that follow the former cart paths of a 1905 golf links. The city's best-known architects and builders created stately period homes and then installed modern kitchens and electrical service. From 1922 through 1945, the revolving door of early occupants included the city's elite, as well as middle-class families and recent immigrants. They were mayors, homemakers, lawyers, teachers, judges, politicans, insurance agents, explorers, inventors, physicians, scientists, wholesale grocers, engineers, furniture designers, manufacturers, salespeople, tourism promoters, private detectives, environmentalists, and professional athletes. This study is a virtual walk through the neighborhood arrnaged by street with details of the early owners, architects, and builders shared, if known."--Back cover.
