Summary

This documentary film was made to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Kalamazoo's status as a city. It opens with a pictorial presentation of Kalamazoo's mayors from 2009 backwards to 1884 and then, through period photographs, shows the world of Kalamazoo as it would have been in 1884. The photography and the narrative covers the period in all aspects from housing, education, factories, stores, banking, transportation, recreation, fashion, medical care, religious institutions, cultural institutions, public services, and cemeteries and funeral parlors.
