Intro to Tableau Prep

Summary

Get up and running with Tableau Prep, and complete hands-on projects to learn how to combine, shape, clean, and prepare raw data for analysis.

Tableau Prep is a self-service data preparation tool, with visual and intuitive tools for combining, shaping, and cleaning raw data for analysis. This course explores each stage of the Tableau Prep workflow: connecting to sources, examining and filtering data, applying operations and custom calculations, joining and pivoting tables, sharing data outputs, and more. Throughout the course, you’ll be playing the role of data analyst for Maven Charter Schools, an up-and-coming private institution. Your role is to use Tableau Prep, and the skills you learn throughout the course, to prepare data from a variety of sources, including teacher pay, SAT scores, and graduation rates. You'll learn how to connect and configure sources; apply operations for grouping, splitting, and cleaning data; create custom LOD and analytic calculations; and use tools to join, aggregate, and transform tables. Finally, you'll review options for saving, updating, and publishing data outputs, along with tools to automate and share workflows with Tableau Prep. Note: This course was created by Dustin Cabral and Maven Analytics. We are pleased to host this training in our library.
