Cop or Hood

Summary

Screen legend Jean-Paul Belmondo (Le Doulos, The Hunter Will Get You) gives one of his slickest, slyest performances in the action-packed comedy-thriller, COP OR HOOD (Flic ou voyou). When a small-town police chief is found dead in a prostitute’s house, a particularly handsome and quick-witted Paris commissioner named Stan Borowitz (Belmondo) is sent to investigate. Posing as the prostitute’s long-lost brother “Antonio Cerruti,” he discovers a mare’s nest of “ripoux” (French for “corrupt cops”). In fact, the whole town is downright dirty, right up to the mayor! Director Georges Lautner (Le Professionnel, Icy Breasts) teams with screenwriters Michel Audiard (The Body of My Enemy, Deadly Circuit) and Jean Herman (The Outsider, Dog Day) for one of Belmondo’s wittiest, wildest outings. Featuring the lovely Marie Laforêt (Purple Noon) and a jazzy score by Philippe Sarde (Barocco) with Chet Baker on trumpet.
