Summary

From director Steven Spielberg comes a historical drama based on the true story of the 1839 revolt aboard the Spanish slave ship La Amistad. After leading an uprising, Cinqué (Djimon Hounsou) and his fellow Mende captives are captured by the U.S. Navy and put on trial. With the help of abolitionists and lawyer Roger Baldwin (Matthew McConaughey), they fight for their freedom in a case that reaches the Supreme Court.
