Sappho and Jerry, Parts 1-3

Summary

In contrast to the high-end 2K digital technology used to restore Manhatta, I learned filmmaking on a 35mm Oxberry beam-splitter, multihead, aerial- image bi-pac optical printer. A dinosaur by today’s standards and all hand operated. Pt. 3 took 26 hours to shoot straight through without one mistake. “Sappho” was Barbara Lattanzi’s dog; and “Jerry” was the Chicago deli owner made famous by Tom Palazollo’s film. - Bruce Posner (director).
