Summary
These prayers are very personal. They were birthed from a challenging experience involving the Catholic Church. The trickling effect of such an experience with the Church can be far-reaching and long-lasting. It can cause a great deal of questioning, on all fronts. Sometimes, an experience, such as that, can leave one feeling orphaned, even by God. It can feel devastating to lose a spiritual home, a spiritual director (For some ... aka, a spiritual father), as well as the loss of that spiritual community. No matter how dysfunctional the Church and those relationships may have been, it can still be impactful. Furthermore, losing the people and places we love can be heartbreaking. There are times when the aftermath of those losses and types of experiences can leave so much rubble that it is hard to know how to rebuild. I do think God can and does find us there as well, and, if we are lucky, we find Him. At times, it can feel hard to find comfort in knowing that God can bring good from even the most painful situations, especially while in the midst of one. These prayers helped to grow closer to God and gradually start to find a way through that experience. More importantly, to find God in the midst of it. I discovered Him to be a Most Gracious Sovereign King and a loving Heavenly Father. I hope these prayers are helpful to you as well.
