Who May Get a Card?

  • District residents, businesses, property owners, and seniors (county residents, aged 65 and older) may apply for a KPL card at no charge.
  • Some nonresidents may apply for a reciprocal KPL card at no charge.
  • Other nonresidents may pay an annual fee for a KPL card with full privileges. This card may be used by all family members in one household for one year.

How to Apply

Adults and children over 12 must present photo ID and proof of current address to receive a library card. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Guidelines.

  • Register online to open a 15-day temporary account and place items on hold.
  • Register in person at any KPL location.

Report a Lost or Stolen Card

  • Call 269-553-7806 or visit any KPL location.
  • Replacement cost: $2.00 

Renew Your Card

Library cards expire every three years on the date they were created. Library staff must verify your current address, phone number, and email address (if applicable) to renew your card. You will not be able to place a hold or check out an item until you renew your card.

Using Your Card

You may use your card at every library location. You may also check out materials from area libraries that offer reciprocal borrowing. You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card.
