Apply for a New Card
The Kalamazoo Public Library now offers online registration for those living in the Kalamazoo library district and reciprocal area. By signing up for a library card online, borrowers may receive a temporary account good for 15 days, with which to place items on hold. In order to check out these reserved materials, patrons will need to visit one of the KPL locations and present a picture ID/proof of address in order to activate and receive their library card.
Register In Person
Residents may also apply for a card at any library location or on the bookmobile. Adults will need picture identification with a current address to apply for a card.
Renewing Your Card
Library cards expire every three years on the date they were first created. Library staff will need to verify your current address, phone number and email address (if applicable) the next time you wish to check out an item or access your account online. You will not be able to place a hold on an item until your card is renewed in person at the library.
Using Your Card
You may use your card at every library location and the bookmobile. You may also check out materials from area libraries that offer reciprocal borrowing. You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card.
