The Ninth Circuit Court is the trial court of general jurisdiction in Kalamazoo County and has county-wide jurisdiction over all actions except those given by state law to another court, including: domestic relations matters, adoptions, name changes, emancipations, general civil actions involving claims of $25,000 or more, parental consent waivers, child protective proceedings, personal protection orders, criminal matters in which the potential sentence is incarceration of one year or more, and much more.
