We Read Banned Books!
Tue, August 16 @ 10:00 am–2:00 pm
Kalamazoo Public Library values our commitment to our strategic plan and our mission as a public library, specifically our goal of providing opportunities, diverse experiences, and filling gaps in other educational programs. The last two years have seen a higher propensity for children’s and young adult books to be banned in public schools and libraries, a process of censorship which KPL does not support. To add value to the conversation, KPL will be offering free copies of various children’s and young adult books this summer, featuring titles that have been challenged or banned in public educational institutions since the summer of 2020. Free copies of books will be available in both the Children’s and Teen departments all summer, while supplies last.
