| Recurring Event (See all)

Join the Right to Literacy Book Club to discuss the impact of literacy in Kalamazoo. Our feature book is Hot Dogs and Hamburgers: Unlocking Life’s Potential by Inspiring Literacy at Any Age by Rob Shindler. Receive your copy at the first meeting on Tuesday, November 5.

In this heartwarming story, author Rob Shindler tells how he offered his time, unflagging energy, and unconventional teaching techniques to help his son’s serious learning differences and adults suffering from low literacy levels. Hot Dogs & Hamburgers demonstrates that literacy issues reside in all neighborhoods and that its victims are committed to finding dignity and life’s possibilities through learning to read.

Meet the Author Rob Shindler: Thursday, December 12, 6–7:30 pm | CEN/Van Deusen Room.

This program is co-sponsored by Kalamazoo Literacy Council, Western Michigan University Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and Kalamazoo Public Library. Call (269) 382-0490 ext. 222 or visit www.kalamazooliteracy.org for more information.
