Nonprofit Boards and Systemic Racism
Tue, August 9 @ 10:00 am–12:00 pm

“Change in the sector can only happen when nonprofit groups identify the concrete, structural factors that reproduce racial leadership disparities, and undertake new and transformative steps to fundamentally include and expand the voices and experiences of people of color.” — Race to Lead Revised Summary
Join ERACCE and ONEplace for an introductory virtual workshop designed for nonprofit boards of directors. The primary outcome of this participatory experience is to build an understanding of and develop common language around anti-racism specifically in the context of board work. Exploring questions like: What are key concepts and shared understandings that are vital to this work? How can our board be more equitable? How can our board and organization take accountability and action?
Anyone in the greater Kalamazoo community is welcome to attend, however this opportunity is specifically curated for individuals serving on nonprofit boards or work for nonprofit organizations. To be truly effective participants must be fully open to the experience.
