The Kalamazoo Eastside Neighborhood Association (KENA), in partnership with the Kalamazoo County Land Bank and Vibrant Kalamazoo, is sponsoring a financial literacy, mortgage preparation, and credit repair event at the Eastside Sunrise Plaza. This year’s Show Me the Money, an annual Eastside neighborhood event, will be especially festive and feature local Lunchbox Food Truck, Kalamazoo Public Library’s Mobile Library, local author and realtor Twala Lockett-Jones who will be signing copies of her new children’s book, Princess Mackie Buys a House, games, vendors and financial panels with local experts in both English and Spanish.

All financial-related questions from residents are invited for the theme, “Bring your money questions! We have answers.” The two half-hour-long panels will be hosted by Eastside resident and former radio talk show host, Buddy Hannah, who also hosts a podcast sponsored by KENA with support from the Public Media Network called “Let’s Talk Money.” The podcasts, which can be found on the PMN website, feature local experts discussing money issues, including one issue in Spanish in partnership with El Concilio.

The Lunchbox Food Truck will be at the event from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Participants will be given a food ticket after filling out a survey. Children will be served free, as well. For more information about the event, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].
