Celebrate the Life & Legacy of Alma Harrod Powell
Saturday, June 22 @ 2:00 pm–4:00 pm
In 1978, 11 years after the passing of Alma H. Powell, staff and friends of the Alma Powell Branch designated a week in June to be known as “Alma Harrod Powell Week.” Join us as we restore this tradition and celebrate the life of former KPL staff member, noted storyteller, and Alma Powell Branch namesake, Alma H. Powell. Come view an art exhibit provided by KPS students in the Barnabee Gallery. Witness the unveiling of a new Alma Powell portrait crafted by renowned artist James Palmore. Enjoy music by Monica Washington. Experience poetry by Ora O’Connell. Listen to keynote speaker Sonya Bernard-Hollins, author, journalist and historian. Sonya will share the never-before told story of Alma Powell.
Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
