Summary
For Sama tells the story of one woman's journey through love, motherhood, war and survival during the Syrian conflict. Directed by Waad al-Kateab and Edward Watts, the documentary chronicles the experiences of Syrian filmmaker al-Kateab--who, starting at 26, began filming her life in the rebel-held city of Aleppo over five years. Told as a love letter from a mother to her daughter, the film explores the agonizing dilemma of whether to abandon Aleppo and the fight for freedom.
