Summary

In a futuristic city sharply divided between the working class and the city planners, the son of the city's mastermind falls in love with a working class prophet who predicts the coming of a savior to mediate their differences. This 2010 restoration incorporates more than 25 minutes of extra footage that had not been seen since the film's premiere in 1927 and was believed to have been lost forever.

Metropolis was originally produced as a motion picture in 1927 ; The complete Metropolis, restored with additional footage, was originally released to theaters in 2010.

Special features: original 1927 score by Gottfried Huppertz, performed by the Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra, Berlin, conducted by Frank Strobel, and presented in 5.1 stereo surround ; "Voyage to Metropolis," a 50-minute documentary on the making and restoration of the film ; interview with Paula Felix-Didier, curator of the Museo del Cine, Buenos Aires, where the missing footage was discovered ; 2010 re-release trailer.
