Summary

In Munich, stroll through the bustling Marienplatz, then enjoy a Bavarian feast at a boisterous beer hall. Elsewhere in Bavaria, visit Neuschwanstein, the storybook castle built by Ludwig II, and the Dachau Memorial.

In Berlin, visit the Brandenburg Gate and view ancient treasures at the Pergamon Museum. Then admire 18th century grandeur at Frederick the Great's private retreat, Sanssouci.

In Vienna, enjoy hospitality at a coffeehouse, then salute Austria's most famous sons, Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss at the Staatsopera. As a fitting finale, cruise down the blue Danube to the magnificent Melk Abbey.

Salzburg, on the edge of the Austrian Alps, is full of old world charm, matched by the natural beauty of the nearby Salzkammergut Lakes District.

Switzerland's Berner Alps tower above Alpine valleys, while in a study of contrasts, you'll visit the busy Interlaken and the sleepy town of Gimmelwald.

In Western Switzerland, view the Paul Klee collection at Bern's Kunst Museum, then wander Roman ruins at Avenches. Sample fondue at Tavayenne and chocolates at Gruyere, tread medieval ramparts in Murten, and retrace Lord Byron's footsteps at Chateau Chillon.
