Bleak Street

In the early morning hours, two elderly prostitutes go back to their hovels. One has problems at home with her teenage daughter. The other lives with her invalid mother. That night, they have a date to celebrate the victory of two wrestlers. At the hotel, planning to rob the men of their earnings, they drug them with eye drops, but the dose proves fatal. Scared and confused, they decide to hide from the police and run away together. Nominated for a Queer Lion at the **Venice Film Festival**. Official Selection at the **Toronto International Film Festival**. *"...a visionary triumph for the 72-year-old director…Ripstein; his perspective is determined but never detached. He is served very well by the movie’s settings.*" - Glenn Kenny, ****
