Summary

In the book there is a balance of humane white people and Indians too. In 1994, the democratically elected government abolished the apartheid laws. For the private sector Preferential laws are laid. These laws were meant to assist the previously disadvantaged races, mainly Africans, to benefit from the economy equally as the other races. It is practically impossible for the government to have marshals, in the companies to monitor the implementation of these preferential laws. So the same race which previously segregated the Africans are tasked to implement the laws they don't like. The factory floor, were the actual manufacturing takes place, also called shop floor, was previously supervised by white and coloured foreman. The majority of the shop floor workforce are Africans. With the new labour laws, it was easy for the company senior management to employ African supervisors. Companies has to take some large numbers of Africans youth to train them in different fields. The companies gain audit points for this. When they employ one or two of these youth the company gets even more points. These laws are at very level in the company, right up to the board of directors. This book concentrates on the works issued out to contractors. The government audit falls short to specifically indicate the amount of financial value an African contractor has benefitted as per the preferential laws. The company bosses both White and Indian proceed to segregate the Freelance African Contractors.
