Your Story: Pastor Joseph L. Anderson
“The library is a huge resource...”
You might expect Pastor Joseph L. Anderson, vice president for Young Black Males’ Advocates for Justice, to know his way around the KPL Law Library. Anderson, pastor of City of Refuge Church of God in Christ says the law library’s legal resources are invaluable in his work with troubled young men and their families. But it was KPL’s small business resources that Anderson first tapped. “I was in the process of starting a landscaping business and researched how-to-start-a-business, the landscaping and construction industries, business survival rates and more,” he says. Then, studying Theological Seminary on Urban Ministry at Western Michigan University, Anderson relied on KPL’s Reference Department for help tracing the genealogy of bible figures like Isaiah and Mary Magdalene. “The library is a huge resource for doing legal, historical and also educational research and so many other services that benefit our community,” Pastor Anderson says.
