OMG…is that rain? I was so excited to hear and see all the rain coming down this morning.
It has been sooooooooooo hot that it was a welcome change to get real rain! Thoughts of Gene Kelly’s movie Singing in the Rain came to mind.
It’s a classic and man could they dance back in the day.

How many of you realize that there are a lot of movies that started out as books? For example the new Avengers movie is based on the comic book series with the same name. Remember the Twilight movies…books! Remember the Harry Potter movies….books!
So why not stop down in teens and check out a good book and go over to the AV area and check out the movie also. You can even have a movie/book party with popcorn and discuss which you liked best. Did the movie follow the book? Did they leave any parts out? You may even want to think about how you would make a movie from your favorite book.

The 9th Annual Teen Filmmaker Festival has come and gone, and it was one of the best Festivals ever! We had so many great films it was almost impossible for our judges to pick just one for each category. But in the end, only one film could win each award, and it's our pleasure to announce the winning films for 2012:
War Within by Jonathan D'Ambrosio - Best Film
Winter Wonderland by Morgan King - Judges' Choice
Through the Mirror by Griffin Snow - Peoples' Choice
The Charge of the Light Brigade by Matthew George - Best Animation
Mutual Slump by Samuel Peters - Best Experimental Film
Sling by Aaron Porter - Best Music Video
Plugged In by Anna Dodd - Best Short Film
The Mission by Kyle Misak - Best Technical Merit
Thanks again to every director who entered a film in this years' Festival, and congratulations to all of our winners. If you couldn't make it to the Festival, we'll be posting the complete lineup to our YouTube channel soon so you can catch up with everything you missed!

OK …you’re back to school and your break is over. Now it’s time to focus on all the winter fun that is ahead! Where you say? At the KPL Teen Services of course! Come on down and see our, I mean, YOUR new space. It is colorful and bright with twelve windows and even a door!
Some of you got the memo, it was on and popping in Teens this afternoon. If you haven’t been down to check us out then “make your way downtown” to the library.

This year's game is easier than ever, so stop in at the Teen desk or any branch library, pick up a game board, and then start reading! The more you read, the more prizes you'll earn. Don't forget to come down to the library for Summer programming, too- we've got all sorts of activities to keep you entertained. Here's just a few program highlights for teens:
There's literally tons more stuff to do this summer, so be sure to check our calendar regularly to make sure you don't miss out. Even better, certain programs are special prize drawing programs where you can nab all sorts of cool stuff- but you've got to show up to win! Signup begins June 15th... don't miss out!
