Millage Renewal Approved
On May 5, 2009, Kalamazoo Public Library asked voters to renew its current operating millage at the current rate of 2.7782 for another 20 years This millage will cost the owners of the average home in the library district just 50 cents per day.
The request was approved by a 3-to-1 margin.

Kalamazoo voters have a long history of supporting their library. With that strong support, KPL provides a rich variety of services to library users.
In these tough economic times, people are using those services more than ever.
Since last year, staff have helped 22% more library users, computer use has increased 50%, patrons have borrowed 25% more CDs and DVDs, and 47% more people have attended library programs.
