Sam Hughes

I am what you could call a true "native son". I was born and raised right here in Kalamazoo and have opted to stay here and attend college. Although the career that I am pursuing is in medicine, I have enjoyed quite the career here at the Kalamazoo Public Library. I have been employed by KPL for almost eight years, performing a wide range of duties.

Most recently, I am responsible for the MeLCat program which has afforded me the opportunity to learn about the many resources that the different libraries in the state of Michigan have to offer.

On a personal note, I enjoy musicmovies, and sports (GO PISTONS!!), and spending time with family and friends. I also value the chance to volunteer. In high school, I participated in the Jeter's Leaders program that promotes healthy lifestyles, academic achievement, and a commitment to improving the community through social change. I am proud to say that I am still part of this program and its values are essential to my life.

Working at the library, has been truly a rewarding experience for me. I find myself learning more and more everyday.
