Ann Rohrbaugh

I’ve been director of KPL since 2004 but have been here for many years. I came to Kalamazoo from Pennsylvania to attend library school at Western Michigan University and never left. My first KPL position, while at WMU, was as an aide in the bookmobile department. My first librarian position here was in reference then to several positions in the library office.

Over the years I’ve been very active in school and youth sports with my children. They are now in college so my activities are becoming more community based than school based.

Library work continues to be so rewarding to me…I have never regretted my career choice. Although most of my work time is spent on administrative work, I do work regularly at the information desk and select medical and cookbooks for the adult collection.

Not surprisingly, I guess, I also read a lot, and I keep a journal of the books that I read. I add about twice as many titles to my list of “books to read sometime” each month, as I am able to read. I’ll never run out of good books!
