Ten years ago I started volunteering for "Ready to Read." I have always loved to read and it was important for me to share my love of books with children. I read to the children on Tuesday at Kalamazoo County Department of Human Services. The time I spend with the children is a joy for me and I feel I am sharing with the children the joys of reading.
My husband Virg and I have been married 35 years and have 4 children and 14 grandchildren. My grandchildren are always happy when I have new books to share with them from Ready to Read. Several times I have brought two of my granddaughters with me and they love reading to the children too.
I worked at Pharmacia/Upjohn for 24 years, retiring in 1999. I have enjoyed my retirement by volunteering for Ready to Read, Kalamazoo Air Zoo, traveling, Bible Study and spending time with my grandchildren.
