Reservations and Fees
Non-commercial organizations may reserve the community rooms for public events and programs up to twelve times per year. A resident of the library district must make the room reservation. Commercial organizations based in Kalamazoo County may utilize three of the available community rooms.
Fees for community room use vary. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms may be reserved beginning October 1st for January through December of the following year. The completed reservation form and payment of all applicable fees must be received by the library ten days prior to the meeting date.
Arrangements
The rooms vary in size, arrangement, and equipment availability. The community rooms can accommodate audiences of 30 to 170 persons. Four to eight people may meet in the Central Library study rooms. The computer training lab features ten PCs. Classroom, theater, and boardroom style setups are available. Users should estimate the number attending and specify setup and equipment needed when reserving rooms.
Equipment
A variety of equipment is available at each location.
Computer Training
Library staff offer free instruction on accessing the Internet and the library’s web-based catalog and community information database. Classes may be booked for community groups. The Computer Training Lab may also be used by a business or organization to meet a specific training need for a small group.
Arrangements may be discussed with the library’s computer trainer at 269-553-7862.
Refreshments and Catering
Kitchenettes allow simple refreshments to be prepared at Central, Eastwood, and Oshtemo. Catering services may be used at all locations. KPL has an established relationship with Maggie’s on Campus but the applicant may use the caterer of their choice.
Admissions and Sales
Organizations using the community rooms may not charge admission, but a free will donation may be requested. Limited sales are permitted, provided they are not the main purpose of the event. Permission to use the community rooms does not imply endorsement of any organization’s goals or activities. All users will be expected to follow rules and guidelines.
