    Banned Books Art Hop

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees your right to decide for yourself what you read, listen to or view. Since 1982, libraries, booksellers, and publishers have reminded us not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted during Banned Books Week.

This special Art Hop celebrates your freedom to read with an art display based on frequently challenged books, created for submission to a Banned Books Art Contest, and a program of short readings from books that have been banned.

    Readings

The following local celebrities will read selections during the Art Hop.

Elizabeth Kerlikowske – The Kite Runner  by Khaled Hosseini
Von Washington – Song of Solomon  by Toni Morrison
Keith Thompson – Animal Farm  by George Orwell
Lori Moore – And Tango Makes Three  by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell
Garrard McLeod – Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling
