MP3 Players
KPL's audible.com selections
Kalamazoo Public Library was the first public library in the United States to loan digital audiobooks on MP3 players and we continue that service today. The library purchases titles from audible.com and makes them available to KPL patrons on library-owned MP3 players.
Playaways
KPL's Playaway titles
Make listening to a good book as simple as reading one! Check out a Playaway, the new self-playing digital audiobook. Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, each Playaway can hold over 40 hours of content. Plus, they're easy to use—just plug in your headphones, press the power button, then play! You'll find Playaways at Central Library and Oshtemo Branch Library.
Loan Periods
Loan Periods for audiobooks vary depending on the materials. Books on cassette or CD may be renewed once if they are not reserved for another library patron. MP3 players are not renewable.
Grace Period
You may return books on cassettes or CD up to three days after the due date. On the fourth day, a late fee will be charged for each day after the due date. The three-day grace period does not apply to MP3 players or Playaways.
