Cheryl TenBrink

Cheryl TenBrink was first elected to the board in May of 2007, but her association with Kalamazoo Public Library started when she served as a page in the Bookmobile Department at the age of fourteen.  Her mother, Eleanor Whitman, was a bookmobile librarian at the time.  While in college, she worked at KPL as a student assistant and switchboard operator for two years.

After receiving her masters in Library Science from Western Michigan University, Cheryl became a school librarian serving both as an elementary and secondary librarian in Kalamazoo Public Schools for 30 years.  She retired in June 2007.

Cheryl and her husband Burton have two sons, Cory and Carl, both married with families.  They love visiting their six grandchildren who live in Hawaii and Texas.  Cheryl also enjoys reading, going to water aerobic class, and spending time renewing friendships.
