Directions to Central Library in Downtown
Kalamazoo
Kalamazoo Public Library’s central facility is located in
downtown Kalamazoo at the southeast corner of South and Rose streets
diagonally across from Bronson Park. Parking is available in the
city-owned lot on the south side of the library, in the parking
ramps, or at metered spaces on streets around the library.
From the West or East
Take I-94 to Westnedge Avenue, exit 76B. Go north on Westnedge through
nine traffic lights. After the fifth light, Westnedge splits into
two one-way streets. The one-way street continuing north is now
Park Street. Move into the right-hand lane as you head north on
Park toward downtown. Turn right at the tenth stoplight, at the
corner of Park and South Street (a one-way street headed east).
Bronson Park will be on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The library is at the next traffic light on South, at the southeast
corner of South and Rose streets.
From the North
Take US-131 south to either the US-131 business loop or to the West
Main exit east. The US-131 business loop goes primarily through
open country and the residential area north of downtown. The West
Main entrance to downtown goes past a shopping mall, restaurants,
Davenport and Kalamazoo colleges, and roads leading to Western Michigan
University.
If taking the US-131 business loop, it becomes Westnedge Avenue
(a one-way street headed south) at the Kalamazoo city limits. Go
through five traffic lights. Turn left at the sixth traffic light
onto South Street (a one way street headed east). The library is
at the second traffic light on South, at the southeast corner of
South and Rose.
If taking the West Main exit east, 38A, go east on West Main Street
(M-43) through nine lights until West Main merges with Michigan
Avenue (a five lane one way street headed east). Turn right at the
twelfth light onto Rose Street. The library is at the next traffic
light on Rose, at the southeast corner of South and Rose streets.
From the South
Take US-131 north to the Stadium Drive exit east, 36A. Go east on
Stadium Drive through six traffic lights. Turn right at the seventh
light onto South Street (a one-way street headed east). At this
point Stadium has just merged with Michigan Avenue and Oakland Drive
and briefly becomes a boulevard. Continue east on South through
two lights, crossing Westnedge Avenue and Park Street. The library
is at the next traffic light on South, at the southeast corner of
South and Rose streets.
