| Babies love books. They
enjoy hearing stories, especially those with rhythmic language
like nursery rhymes, and they like to look at the pictures. Not
only is it entertaining, but research shows that sharing books
with babies enhances their brain development. When you read to
a baby, you start it on the road to a lifelong love of books
and good reading skills.
That's why Ready to Read tries to ensure that all babies born in our
community start life with a book. Thanks to
Bronson Methodist Hospital and
Borgess Medical Center, every newborn in Kalamazoo County receives a gift book.
The parents also get both an invitation to visit a local library, and a list of
great books for infants!
